The Mocha Autism Network currently has the following programming for families and communities:
Social Skills Programming
Currently, minoritized children (Children of Color, Girls) are diagnosed at least 2 ½ years later than other children. Once a diagnosis/evaluation happens, there are no places to support parents. We would like to provide a space where information and support can be given to our community. This will create a more knowledgeable community.
GOALS:
To create a safe space for parents of children with special needs
Create avenues for networking and information sharing
To provide resources to help parents, teachers, religious leaders with our children
To learn, understand and develop culturally relevant parenting and engagement techniques for the benefit of themselves and the community at large.
Community Engagement Programming
We provide a space where parents work on strategies that will help them with working with schools and advocating for a more inclusive community.
